Rwanda’s Tourism premier tourism event- Kwita Izina Ceremony (Gorilla Naming Ceremony) is set for June 20th 2009. In particular, this year’s event coincides with the United Nation’s declaration of 2009 as the “Year of the Gorilla”.

In Rwanda, every gorilla birth is a reason for celebration for the successful conservation efforts. This year, we shall celebrate the birth of 18 gorillas that will be given names. We use this event to raise awareness on the plight of this endangered species.
We invite and encourage the rest of the world to join us in our celebrations and honour our gorillas as we have done for the past 4 years. The venue is Kwita Izina Ground in Musanze district (former Ruhengeri)

Together, let’s keep the momentum and enthusiasm by everybody to protect the few remaining Mountain Gorilla’s in the world. Do not miss the thrill of Kwita Izina 2009. Be there!
